Creating a smile worthy of Hollywood involves a range of different manipulations, depending on the indication. If your teeth are naturally straight and optimally shaped, whitening and regular professional oral hygiene will be enough. Complicated cases usually require long-term treatment and expensive dental restoration procedures.
The path to a perfect smile
So how does one make a Hollywood smile? In order for your smile to be perfect, existing aesthetic problems must be corrected. These can be minor, like yellowing of the teeth, or serious, like an improper bite or gummy smile. First and foremost, however, your teeth must be healthy. That’s why it’s important to have your mouth cleaned by treating tooth decay and correcting gum problems before aesthetic treatment.
Problem: Missing teeth
Your smile cannot be perfect if you are missing at least one tooth, either posterior or anterior.
The solution: Implants.
The only way to restore a missing tooth aesthetically is to have an implant. The procedure leaves the neighboring teeth untouched and can restore the full aesthetics as well as the function of the lost unit.
The problem: A wrong bite.
Properly aligned teeth are not only a beautiful smile, but also the health of the mouth and the body as a whole. The consequences of occlusal anomalies are very serious, ranging from diction disorders and facial asymmetries to headaches and gastrointestinal problems.
Solution: Braces placement.
A bad bite is best corrected in childhood, but unfortunately not all parents take care of this problem. Therefore it is necessary to correct the bite in adulthood. When the jaw is fully formed, it is not always possible to correct the anomaly without orthognathic surgery. However, braces can almost always be used to straighten teeth at the level of the dentition.
The Problem: Jaundice
Human teeth can come in various shades of gray, yellow and brown. White smiles created by nature are rare. That’s why teeth whitening is one of the most popular aesthetic procedures in the United States, where they know the value of a Hollywood smile.
The Solution: Teeth Whitening
Only professional teeth whitening techniques can be effective. They don’t just remove plaque like a variety of home remedies and whitening pastes, but they actually whiten the tooth tissue. At Estetica Scientific and Clinical Center, whitening is performed with gentle Opalescence technology.
Problem: Teeth that are too big or too small
If your teeth are too big or small and harmonize with your facial features, the problem is over. In all other cases, the abnormal size will be a barrier to calling your smile perfect.
The solution: placing veneers
Veneers (thin plates attached to the front surface of your teeth) can transform your smile beyond recognition. If for some reason whitening does not give the right effect, veneers can easily solve the problem with color. However, the main purpose of veneers is to correct the shape and size of the teeth. Ceramic plates are also used to close gaps between teeth and correct misalignment.
The Problem: Gingival Smile
A perfect smile requires the gums to be exposed no more than two millimeters. If the soft tissue is exposed more than this, the smile is called a “gingival smile”.
Solution: Gumplasty
A gingival smile is often accompanied by small teeth that are less than 8 millimeters long. To visually enlarge the teeth and shorten the gum line, a variety of measures are performed, ranging from upper lip frenulum trimming to major orthognathic surgery. However, it is often enough to perform gumplasty. It is a surgical procedure in which the soft tissue is “trimmed,” exposing the crown of the tooth.
The problem: Fillings on the front teeth
Fillings in the smile area will ruin even the smoothest and most beautiful teeth. Often, a filling can’t be placed so that it doesn’t show. The placed fillings become visible to those around you, and also prevent you from whitening your teeth because they cannot be whitened.
Solution: Composite restorations, veneers or crowns
Extensive fillings on the front teeth are an indication for dental crowns. In all other cases, you can get by with composite restorations or veneers. The latter is the preferred solution, as veneering provides the most aesthetic result.
